Banks
Banks are open from 10:30 to 15:00 Monday to Friday and 09:30 to 11:30 on Saturdays.

Climate
There are no distinct seasons in Malaysia and the temperature fluctuates little throughout the year, with cooler temperatures in the hill resorts. Humidity is high all year round. The average temperatures range between 32°c during the day and 22°c at night.

Currency
The unit of currency is the Malaysian Ringgit, indicated as RM, which is divided into 100 sen. Foreign currency and travellers cheques can be converted to Malaysian Ringgit at banks or authorised money changers. All major credit cards are freely used and accepted in the country.

Dress
Light, cool and casual clothing is recommended all year round. It is advisable for ladies, when entering Mosques and temples, to wear long sleeves and loose trousers or long skirts.

Electricity

Malaysia operates on a 220/250 volts AC, 50 cycles.

Time Zones

Local time is Greenwich Mean Time + 8 hours.

Tipping
Tipping is not a way of life. It is unnecessary in hotels and restaurants where there is already a 10% service charge, however exceptional service should be rewarded.
