Over 100 years ago, when Edward Hill started a company that made bricks, little did he know that four generations of the family later, the business would have evolved into a multi-million pound concern.
It has progressed through a multiplicity of building operations to focus on aggregates, recycling and resource management, and house-building. Despite the developments, the same qualities of energy, enterprise, affability and confidence with which the Hills Group was founded, still characterise it today. Each generation of the family has been supported by particularly able managers and by loyal and enthusiastic employees. People remain the Group's greatest asset as we stride confidently into our second century. |

The Hills Group is a dynamic, regional business based in Wiltshire, but with operations in the surrounding counties – from Gloucestershire right across to Berkshire. An independent family-owned business, Hills has come a long way since it started as a one-man operation over a century ago.
Our principal activities are recycling, waste management, aggregates and new homes. It is a mix with plenty of synergy - we clear sites, remove demolition materials for recycling, supply aggregates and then build new houses. We might even recycle from the doorsteps of those same homes! In Wiltshire, we have worked closely with our partners in local authorities to boost recycling such that the volume of waste diverted from landfill has grown from six per cent in 1996 to 26 per cent today. |
Social responsibility is important in all that we do. We are proud to provide jobs for more than 300 people, supply materials upon which modern life depends and contribute significantly to the regional economy and to local communities. We also care passionately about the environment, minimising our impacts and restoring land for future benefit. |
