The surrounding areas of Kyaikhtiyo, Hpa-An and Mawlamyine are not fully developed for tourism. We always try to pick the best possible accommodation, transport and facilities, but we do hope guests appreciate that delays and changes to itineraries are sometimes unavoidable. In Kyaikhtiyo foreigners are not allowed to travel by truck further than half-way up the mountain, due to steep and dangerous roads. It is not advised to travel these roads during the monsoon season (June-September). Wet weather impedes trucks from travelling to the upper camp at the Golden Rock. Please be aware that these roads can be muddy and slippery. |
