A New Boutique Hotel in Cuzco, Peru

Palacio Nazarenas, Cuzco's newest luxury hotel, takes hospitality in the city to a higher realm.

Palacio Nazarenas is an historic former convent that has long been an oasis of tranquility between the grandeur of Plaza de Armas and young, lively San Blas. Its new incarnation sees contemporary style added to its urban retreat atmosphere.

Its earlier life may have been one of strict religious observance - but a stay in this all-suite hotel is anything but austere. From the moment that you make your reservation to your arrival back home, your personal butler is at the ready to ensure that you experience Cuzco at its very best.

Whatever your interests, prepare to indulge them here. Culture fans discover vibrant history all around, starting with the Inca stonework that forms some of the hotel's own walls and ancient features such as the stone archway and painted wooden ceiling (pictured below left). Immediately outside are the city's main attractions, almost all accessible on foot.

Just want to chill out and relax? Then visit the pool and Hypnoze Spa, or have a massage in your spacious suite. Keen to sample Cuzco's famed New Andean cooking? Head to the destination restaurant, Senzo, for the city's coolest, most contemporary cuisine.

The hotel's opening marked the culmination of an exciting restoration project that stretches back some 12 years. This is when Orient-Express, already at the helm of adjacent Hotel Monasterio, began work in association with Peru's National Institute of Culture on a plan to bring this 16th century building back to life. Huge care has been taken over every detail to ensure that the property's heritage has been preserved.

The result is fun, fashionable and full of surprise. Fresh white and blue colours set the tone as you step into the first courtyard, where a beautiful fountain plays. There's a feeling of light, wellbeing and creativity as you continue further inside.

If you've come to Cuzco for something new and unexpected, yet totally true to the city's distinctive vibe, then Palacio Nazarenas is the place to be. Discover it in the square of the same name, behind an ancient facade carved with serpents - a distinctive feature that underlines this unique property's individuality and charm.
