The Royal Scotsman: Just for You

When you charter The Royal Scotsman train to head off into the Highlands, you can choose the route and even plan it around a specific theme.

If you and your friends are food fanatics you might focus on Scotland's rich produce, and feast on Arbroath smokies, haggis and neeps and tatties as you roll past the places from where they hail. Or if you favour history, fishing or golf, an itinerary can be planned around world-famous heritage sites, salmon streams or fairways. The train might take you right up to the edge of a laird's estate, where you can disembark for a custom-made excursion, or close to a river where you step out into waders and straight into the river to snare your fish.

Other special touches can be added according to the occasion. If it's a wedding party, for instance, an impressive cake can be piped on board. A botanist's birthday could be marked with visits to some of Scotland's finest gardens, with a special event staged among the flowers.
