2008 is a key year for the railroad history of Peru, and of Cusco in particular.  One hundred years ago the first locomotive arrived to this locality, starting a history full of experiences that brought Cusco to modern world. Cusco’s railroad history is still evolving, and is now oriented to tourism in the routes to Machu Picchu and Puno.

PERURAIL began operations 9 years ago.  It is a Peruvian-British company that has revived the tradition of a means of transport that is vital for the country’s south, innovating it, finding proposals addressed to satisfy the growing demand to visit the Machu Picchu Inca citadel, considered as one of the seven great marvels of the world.  One of these new services is the exclusive “Hiram Bingham” train, a sort of rolling five-star hotel which provides demanding tourists every comfort in a world-class service.

The prestigious NBC chain of the United States has ranked the “10 most marvelous train  trips of the world”. “Hiram Bingham” is ranked seventh, giving Cusco and Peru another reason to be proud and one more challenge to continue working to place our country on the world’s travelers’ showcase.
