In 1945 David Lean filmed his romantic classic “Brief Encounter” starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. Carnforth was chosen as it was remote and safe from attack.  Filming had to take place at night so as not to interfere with daytime train operations.

Re-live one of the most romantic liaisons of the original location of "Brief Encounter" as you travel up the famous Carnforth platform, made famous by the film.  Passengers have the option of stepping off the Northern Belle briefly, and watch actors on the platform as they recall moments of a bygone era.
