Your Journey

Castle Howard has been the home of part of the Howard family for more than 300 years. It is familiar to television and movie audiences as the fictional "Brideshead", both in Granada Television's 1981 adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited and a two-hour 2008 remake for cinema.

A delicious bellini brunch will be served as you journey to the beautiful and historic city of York. On arrival at York, you are met by your guides at the station and enjoy a short coach transfer to Castle Howard.

Castle Howard is one of Britain's finest historic houses and is still home to the family whose forebears conceived, designed, and built it over three centuries ago. Designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in 1699, Castle Howard took over 100 years to complete. Its dramatic spaces are filled with magnificent collections gathered by successive generations of the Howard family. When you visit Castle Howard you will be swept away by the breathtaking beauty of the architecture and landscape, as well as the delightful gardens linked by many pathways. The gardens are stunning whatever the time of year, and with many diverse areas to explore, visitors can find peace and tranquility whichever path they choose. Delightful walks reveal in turn hidden glades and breathtaking views.

Rejoin the Northern Belle, where you are welcomed aboard with a glass of chilled champagne. Later, a sumptuous dinner is served accompanied by half a bottle of wine.
