Your Journey | The train travels via Shap with splendid views of the Howgill Fells and Lakeland Hills, before arriving to Carlisle. Situated on the border of England and Scotland, Carlisle held a strategic position and was subject to a history of feuds and bloody battles. Many of Carlisle's historic and lasting monuments were established during the Middle Ages, including the magnificent castle founded by William the Conqueror's son.
A delicious brunch with Bellini is served as you travel through this beautiful scenery on your outward journey. At Carlisle you are met by your guide who conducts you on a walking tour of the city and the cathedral, famous for its 14th century stained glass window. You are then free to explore the city and shops at leisure before returning to the Northern Belle. A glass of chilled champagne is served as soon as you board the train, followed by a four course supper accompanied by half a bottle of wine.
