Your Journey

Lying off the west coast of Scotland, the history of the second largest of the Hebridian Islands is emphasised by the breathtaking scenery. From the mountain of Ben More, standing at a majestic 3000ft to the main village of Tobermory - famed for its brightly painted buildings, standing stones, duns, brochs and castles, all combine to create a mystical atmosphere within an environment ruled by nature.

Your journey begins with a delicious brunch with Bellini on the outward journey to the delightful fishing village of Oban.

There is a choice of excursion to either Torosay Castle or Duart Castle (please specify your choice).

Duart Castle Excursion On arrival at Oban you will board the ferry for the 45 minute crossing to the Isle of Mull where you will be welcomed at Duart castle. Duart Castle has been a Maclean stonghold since the 12th Century. The keep was built by Lachlan Lubanach, 5th cheif, in 1630. Burnt by the English in 1758, the Castle was restored in 1912 and today is still the home of the chief of the Clan Maclean. Sir Lachlan Maclean completed more renovations in 1995 and today you are able to wander through the rooms such as dungeons and state rooms.

Torosay Castle Excursion On arrival at Oban you will board the ferry for the 45 minute crossing to the Isle of Mull where you will be welcomed at Torosay Castle. Torosay Castle and Gardens were completed in 1858 by the eminent architect David Bryce and is surrounded by 12 acres of spectaular gardens. The house offers family history, portraits, scrapbooks and antiques in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Return back to the Northern Belle by coach and ferry. After all that sea air and beautiful scenery you will look forward to a sumptuous four course dinner with champagne and a half bottle of wine per person.

What to Wear

Smart day wear is appropriate. You are asked not to wear jeans. Please remember you will be outdoors for part of your time at Oban.
