Three nights stay Chiang Mai in the Colonial Suite at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi.

Half-day city and temples tour with Doi Suthep on a day of your choice.

Wednesday: Eastern & Oriental Express to Bangkok
Board the Eastern & Oriental Express for lunch and travel to Khao Yai. Here visit local vineyards and have the opportunity to taste “new latitude wines”. Rejoin the train in the early evening in time for dinner.

Thursday: Eastern & Oriental Express - Bangkok
The train arrives this morning in Sawankhaloke, where you visit Si Satchanalai, part of the northernmost citadel of the ancient Khmer empire. Explore the impressive 13th-century Buddhist temples. Return to the train at Sila At for lunch as your journey continues. Mid afternoon disembark at Lampang for a horse-drawn carriage ride to Baan Sao Nok – “the house of many pillars”. Enjoy tea as you tour the house, built in traditional Lana style. Return to the train to prepare for dinner and a final night on board.

Friday: Bangkok
Two nights Bangkok in the Superior River Wing room at The Mandarin Oriental or Deluxe room at The Peninsula.

Sunday to Tuesday: Eastern & Oriental Express to Singapore
Sunday depart from Bangkok’s Hualampong station early evening. After being welcomed on board the gold and green liveried carriages, settle into your compartment. Dinner is served as the train leaves the city behind and travels into the Thai countryside. Retire to your compartment, now transformed into a bedroom by your personal steward.

Monday: Eastern & Oriental Express to Singapore
Monday for early risers there is the excitement of the train making its way on the trestle viaduct from Wang Po. Later arrive at the River Kwai Bridge station, where you disembark for a cruise on the river on board a local raft. During the cruise a local historian provides a brief overview of the history of the Thailand-Burma railway and the bridge. Disembark for a visit to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and, for those who wish, the Don-Rak War cemetery. Rejoin the train for lunch, a relaxing afternoon, dinner and a further night on board.

Tuesday: Eastern & Oriental Express to Singapore
Tuesday brunch is served before arriving in Butterworth, where you cross by coach on the local ferry to Penang Island. Your visit includes a trip to the Kho Kongsi clan house, a trishaw ride and a drink at the charming “E&O” Hotel. Return to the train and perhaps visit the observation car, before dinner and a final night on board.

Wednesday arrive in Singapore late morning. Two nights Singapore, Courtyard suite at Raffles Hotel or Deluxe room at Mandarin Oriental Singapore.
