A NEW 7 night Central European Journey is featured for the first time. In keeping with the great Orient-Express tradition of offering intriguing, long distance itineraries with a real sense of adventure, the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (VSOE) will visit Venice, Vienna, Krakow, Warsaw and Prague.
Departing Venice on 9 July 2007 the VSOE will travel to Vienna, before heading through the magnificently scenic High Tatras Mountains in Northern Slovakia. The tour continues to Krakow and Warsaw and ends in Prague. Three nights are spent on board the train with 4 overnight stopovers in Vienna (1night), Krakow (2 nights) and Warsaw (1 night).
The journey includes all meals on board, bed and breakfast accommodation in Vienna, Krakow and Warsaw and all off train tours. This spectacular journey costs £4000 per person based on two sharing a double cabin (page 27). Cabin suites can be booked for £5200 per person.
In addition to the new Central European Journey, the brochure highlights the various holiday itineraries to the grand European cities of Venice, Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Rome, Paris and Istanbul which are all available travelling on board the VSOE with prices starting from £895 per person for the 2 night ‘Romance of Paris’ tour (page 17).
Orient-Express’ Afloat in France operate the five most luxurious peniché-hotels in France which cruise the canals of Burgundy, Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon during the tourist season.
In addition to the variety of journeys offered, the 2007 brochure features a NEW itinerary for the river cruiser ‘Napoleon’ which between July and August will be repositioned from the River Rhône to the River Saône and will travel between Tain l’hermitage and Chalon-Sur-Saône. This new itinerary will particularly appeal to wine enthusiasts as it reaches into the heart of Burgundy which is one of the most important wine regions in France.
There are a variety of daily activities within the week long itinerary including exclusive access to vineyards and visits to local markets, a tour of Lyon, France’s second city and a visit to the famous Valrhona Chocolatiers, considered the world’s best chocolate.
Napoleon accommodates up to 12 people and can be booked on a per cabin basis as well as being privately hired. It has a sundeck with Jacuzzi as well as an area on the upper deck for alfresco dining. A week long cruise, on a per cabin basis starts at £2720 per person and this includes return travel from London to Napoleon, all meals and drinks and shore activities (page 32).
Further afield in South East Asia a thrilling NEW journey has been added to the Eastern & Oriental Express’ (E&O) schedule, taking E&O guests into Laos for the first time.
