The fishing excursion takes place along the Bora Channel, one of the main tributaries that feeds the Okavango Delta. The area is home to many fish including fresh water pike, cat fish and Tilapia, which is the main catch of the day and commonly known as ‘bream’.
Eagle Island Camp, which practices fishing on a strict ‘catch and release’ basis, can supply basic rods and reels. For the more proficient fisherman, they recommend bringing your own equipment, which should include tackle with mepps spinners (No. 3), small FZ spoons (8grms) and spinning tackle.
The camp is shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees, offering a cool retreat from the African sun, and is located in one of the Delta’s most pristine natural locations within a myriad of waterways, palm treed islands and vast food plains. Each of the 12 lavishly appointed luxury tents is raised on a wooden deck, with ensuite bathrooms and dressing rooms.
The three hour fishing excursions are offered between May and October, and are limited to two people at a cost of US$360.00 (approx. £183.00*) per excursion.
Eagle Island Camp is one of three luxury camps owned by Orient-Express Safaris, located in Northern Botswana in and around the mighty Okavango Delta. The other two camps, Khwai River Lodge and Savute Elephant Camp, are located next to the Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park respectively.
