Named the Tramuntana suites after the mountain range that hugs Deià, each individual room is named after a peak on the range – Tomir, Massanella, Puig Major, Tossals, L’Ofre, Alfabia, Teix and Galatzó.
Accessed by two new lifts, each one bedroom suite has been furnished in traditional Mallorcan style with a four poster wooden bed and lounge area with fireplace. All have a private terrace with magnificent vistas, planted with local Tramuntana flora chosen in collaboration with the Sóller Botanic Garden, which is home to an unrivalled collection of Balearic plants. Some suites additionally have plunge pools.
“The construction of the suites on these elevated terraces has been something of a challenge, but the reward comes when you see the panoramic views of the mountains and the sea,” commented John Rogers, general manager of La Residencia. “The Tramuntana suites have been designed as year round accommodation, with private terraces where guests can cool off during the summer months and open fireplaces to relax in front of during winter.”
The Tramuntana suites are priced from €550 (from £373*) per night during low season, rising to €1,050 (from £712*) per night during peak summer season and can be booked by calling Orient-Express Hotels on +44 (0) 20 7960 0500 or by visiting www.hotel-laresidencia.com.
La Residencia is a traditional Mallorquin style country manor house designed to combine informal elegance and romantic seclusion. The 67 room hotel overlooks the charming village of Deià, home to many painters and writers including the English writer Robert Graves, who lived in this mountain village for 45 years. The hotel will remain open over the winter 2007/08 period and is already taking bookings for Christmas and New Year.
