Mothupi, holder of Orient-Express Safaris Botswana longest service award is finally retiring after 36 years of uninterrupted service with Orient-Express Safaris and our predecessor companies. In 2003, Mothupi was to officially retire but was asked to stay with the company for an additional period in a new position – that of “Traditional Story Teller”.
“Khongkoro” or Maestro, as he is affectionately referred to by his friends and colleagues, leaves Orient-Express Safaris knowing that his legend lives on in all the guides and staff that he has helped train and teach over three and a half decades as a Professional guide. Mothupi will now be heading home to run his cattle post and to spend time with his family.
When asked about his leaving the company by the camp environmentalist, and whether or not he was ready for the new challenges that lay ahead, he responded “Young man, I am not leaving – I am retiring. My doors are always open if you need my assistance…you know where to find me”.
From all who came to know you and who had the privilege of working along side you – Farewell Khongkoro.
