Stay ‘Tennis Fit’ in the Off-Season

Whether you are playing indoor tennis or waiting for the spring thaw, the winter months are the perfect time to stay in shape for tennis. If you follow the short routine below, you will be strengthening the areas of your body that are most vulnerable to injury in the game of tennis. In addition, it is a good idea to have an off-season routine with a fitness trainer or staff member in a health club or gym—45 minutes, 3 times a week will allow you to stay tennis fit!

15 Minutes
Walk, bike or jog slowly to warm up your body

5 Minutes each
Calf, thigh, and hamstring stretches
Shoulder, wrist, waist and trunk stretches
Rotator cuff exercises
Arm exercises
Leg extensions—thigh and hamstring
Core exercises
