Lima

Since its Spanish foundation, almost 500 years ago, Lima has been synonymous with a fascinating cultural mestizaje; the fusion of native and Spanish styles. This is clearly reflected in its polished and innovative culinary art, its monumental architecture, part of the Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity since 1991, and its skilful and fun-loving people, experts in adapting to change. Lima, a bustling city with an abundance of history and architecture, offers us excellent museums, theatre presentations, art galleries, interesting cultural exhibitions, fantastic restaurants and modern malls, aside from the important archaeological and natural attractions.

Miraflores

Miraflores is without a doubt the foremost tourist and hotel area; with its many large commercial areas, fun cafés, hip bars and fancy restaurants, it is very hard not to find something for everyone in Miraflores. Also known as the garden district, Miraflores has lush parks and beautiful green areas full of flowers; however Miraflores is also famous for being a beach district, one the most popular beaches of the city (those of La Costa Verde or the Green Coast) is located there. Additionally Miraflores has an intense artistic and cultural activity; numerous theatres, cinemas and art galleries and an interesting pre-Inca temple known as the Huaca Pucllana (one of the numerous archaeological sites existing in Lima).

Pachacamac

About 31 km (19.26 miles) south of Lima, between the desert and some small farms, we find Pachacamac, an adobe sanctuary and a former pilgrimage center during Hispanic times. The main material used in the constructions of this site is mud, and the best preserved buildings are the ones built during the Inca domination. The complex mainly exhibits palaces, courtyards and meticulously restored temples. The most important constructions in Pachacamac are the Temple of the Sun and the Acllahuasi (house of the chosen women), both built during the Inca period. Additionally Pachacamac has an in situ museum with an interesting collection of pieces found in the archeological complex.
