On arrival at Buxton make the short walk across the road to the Opera House. Relax and enjoy a fine performance of Samson by Handel. The opera, written in 1741, charts the downfall of the biblical figure that loses his power when he loses his locks. This dramatic opera, while rarely performed, is widely acknowledged to be one of Handel's finest works.
The Northern Belle will exclusively be holding seats in the Stalls for this performance in the beautifully restored and intimate Matcham Theatre.
After the performance make the short journey back to the station where you will rejoin the Northern Belle and enjoy a light supper on your return journey home.

Access | This journey is rated as reasonable for passengers with special access needs. Buxton station is a short walk from the opera house. Buxton's streets and path are quite hilly and this should be kept in mind for those with walking difficulties. The Opera House is an Edwardian building and only partially accessible to wheelchair users. There are four wheelchair spaces in the Stalls (ground floor level) and a specially adapted toilet. Unfortunately, the Stalls bar is not accessible, but a member of staff will gladly bring refreshments to your seat.
The Foyer and Box Office counter are not wheelchair accessible.
