A sailing yacht of exceptional scale

Orient Express Corinthian

A sailing yacht of exceptional scale

The announcement of a sailing yacht built at this scale naturally draws attention to engineering and dimension — mast height, structural balance, and technical achievement. Yet Corinthian reveals her true intention elsewhere: in the way scale is experienced once on board. Proportion, movement and spatial coherence define this mega luxury yacht more convincingly than numbers alone, raising a simple question of design rather than magnitude: how large can a vessel become while preserving intimacy at sea?

Dimensions and architecture of a super luxury yacht

At sea, space influences how one moves through the day, how often serenity appears, how naturally the surroundings begin to feel familiar. Conceived with just fifty-four suites, Corinthian maintains an atmosphere closer to a private yacht than to a traditional ship, setting a new benchmark for the ultra luxury cruise. This is not a cruise experience, this is a refined voyage at sea. Circulation remains fluid, decks open generously toward the horizon, and the sea accompanies nearly every moment on board.
On deck seven, the penthouse suites extend outward like residences suspended above the water, their terraces opening to shifting light and open air. Duplex and panoramic suites favour proportion, allowing interiors to remain calm and breathable throughout the voyage.

Orient Express Corinthian measures 220 metres from bow to stern, a length rarely associated with private vessels. The 25.2-metre beam establishes immediate stability, while seven decks rise progressively toward three carbon masts reaching nearly 100 metres above sea level. Despite these massive dimensions, the profile remains sharp, its vertical lines carefully balanced to preserve a sense of visual lightness.

Underway, displacement becomes perceptible in another way. With more than 16,000 tonnes, this luxury yacht maintains an unusually level motion, reducing the lateral movement traditionally associated with sailing. Navigation feels steady and continuous, allowing guests to experience the ocean without physical interruption. Scale here contributes less to spectacle than to comfort over distance — an approach aligned with contemporary interpretations of slow travel.

Limited number of guests and spatial balance at sea

On a mega luxury yacht of this scale, the decision to welcome only 110 guests changes everything. Orient Express Corinthian carries fifty-four suites across seven decks, which means space is never shared out of necessity but offered as a core part of the experience. Corridors feel quiet and public areas breathe, creating an atmosphere closer to a private residence — a sanctuary of discretion and security.

Generous volumes reinforce this sense of privacy. The suites are designed with height and openness in mind, featuring elevated ceilings and large bay windows that bring in plenty of natural light. The yachtʼs overall proportions are generous; public areas, terraces, and the pool deck preserve their calm, unhurried atmosphere.

Advanced sailing technology

Corinthianʼs technical conception reflects recent advances in large-scale maritime engineering. Three carbon masts support rotating and tilting rigs derived from aeronautical research. This configuration improves aerodynamic efficiency and allows this sailing yacht to navigate closer to the wind than conventional systems of comparable height.

Below the waterline, electric propulsion motors operate alongside variable-pitch propellers designed to minimise drag. Energy output adjusts continuously, ensuring smooth transitions between wind propulsion and silent electric navigation. Because of her 16,000-ton displacement, Corinthian doesnʼt heel like traditional sailboats. Even when the wind picks up, she stays level, offering a steady, quiet feel without engine vibration. performance, silence, and stability all live in the same moment.

The design language of a luxury yacht

The yachtʼs design is led by architect and Orient Express creative director Maxime dʼAngeac, whose work translates the brand's cultural vocabulary into a maritime context. Proportion governs the interiors, supported by noble materials selected for durability and tactile presence. Emmanuel Barroisʼ sculptural glasswork catches the light, while marble recalls the timeless elegance of Mediterranean villas.

Every element contributes to a balance that avoids nostalgia while honoring a rich maritime lineage. The design expresses a very Orient Express idea of refinement, with craftsmanship that reveals itself slowly. She is a super luxury yacht where architecture becomes part of the journey itself, and where exterior and interior design flow together as a single, confident identity.

Private residences: the suites

Fifty-four suites are conceived as private residences. Elevated ceilings and expansive bay windows establish visual continuity with the horizon, reinforcing an immediate sense of calm throughout the sailing yacht.

  • The penthouse suites: On deck 7, six suites occupy the most secluded area on board. The Agatha Christie and Zephyr suites include two bedrooms, generous terraces and private jacuzzis. Together, they can be combined to create a fully private deck of more than 900 square metres.

  • The duplex suites: Unfolding across decks 5 and 6, these suites use sculptural staircases to separate private and reception areas. The lower floor houses the bedroom and marble bathroom, while the upper floor opens onto a dining area and private terrace.

  • Terrace suites: Inspired by Riviera modernism, these suites extend directly onto forward teak terraces, offering a lighter architectural expression.

Signature experiences and the Orient Express lineage

Several spaces articulate the character of this mega luxury yacht. The marina, positioned almost at sea level, allows direct access to the water, perfect for creating long-lasting memories of a romantic getaway or a special occasion. The salle de musique, a quiet room designed for live performances, continues the longstanding association between Orient Express and culture. Nearby, the cinema and cabaret extend this dimension, using the same design codes that run through the entire vessel to ensure every moment feels like part of a larger, legendary story.
