A pioneer in the art of wood embroidery, Jean-Brieuc Atelier combines tradition and innovation in marquetry, cabinetmaking, and ornamentation. Founded in 2012 and based in the heart of Angers, the team of marquetry artists, cabinetmakers, and embroiderers collaborates with designers on bespoke commissions.
In 2022, the Atelier created its first embroidered furniture piece, COSMO, the result of more than a thousand hours of work. Presented at the Révélations fair in Paris, this bar cabinet, crafted in bird’s-eye maple and solid walnut, caught the attention of Maxime d’Angeac, who invited Jean-Brieuc Atelier to join the Orient Express project.

The centerpiece of the suite, this embroidered wood panel unites cabinetmaking and haute couture. It recalls the inlaid craftsmanship of the historic train, extending its spirit of innovation and virtuosity.
On a rosewood panel designed by Atelier Paul Champs, Jean-Brieuc Atelier first micro-perforated the circular Art Deco-inspired motif drawn by Maxime d’Angeac, before embroidering it by hand with Japanese glass beads. In the presidential suite, this technique is transposed onto a velvet panel, embellished with beads, cords, and soutache braids, creating a composition of remarkable tactile and visual richness.
