RATES & BOOKING
What is included in the reservation?

La Dolce Vita Orient Express reservation includes the round-trip transfer to and from the train station, accommodation, the table d’hôte, beverages (such as selected wine and spirits, mineral water, soft drinks, tea and coffee), on board entertainment, as well as all applicable taxes . Optional off board experiences are available with a fee.

Some premium wines and spirits and some à la carte dishes are subject to an extra charge.

Please note that prices do not include insurance, gratuities, and travel objects sold onboard.

Will I need insurance?

We strongly recommend that you get a personal travel insurance for your trip. 

Are there interconnecting cabins?

Our cabins are not interconnected. All cabins and suites (double bed or twin arrangement) can accommodate up to 2 guests.
If you wish for special cabin arrangements or to book a whole carriage, the request can be handled through the Concierge Desk.

How long does my journey take?

A journey aboard La Dolce Vita Orient Express typically takes 1 night and 2 days, or 2 nights and 3 days within Italy, across 8 itineraries.

Is there any group discount?

Passengers traveling together in a group, from 8 cabins or more, can ask for a bespoke proposal.

HEALTH & ACCESSIBILITY
Can someone with mobility limitations travel with us?

There is 1 Suite cabin on board that is especially designed for people with mobility limitations. This Suite is located close to the common areas for facilitated access to wheelchairs. Please note that there is limited space in the corridors in the rest of the train (the size of the corridor is 609 mm).

BOARDING & DISEMBARKING
What documents are needed for boarding?

In order to board on La Dolce Vita Orient Express , you will need to show: a proof of identity, your booking confirmation (printed or email) and necessary valid visas depending on your nationality.

 

What about passports & visas?

There should be at least 6 months’ validity left on your passport from your date of arrival. You should check with a national government agency for up-to-date information. We recommend that you anticipate extra time, that is around 2 hours before and 5 hours after your journey aboard La Dolce Vita Orient Express at the check-in points. Please note that you will need to provide a point of contact pre boarding in case of delays.

Where does the train depart from?

The departure station is mentioned in your booking confirmation. You can contact the Global Reservation Center for any additional info.

Are there transfers before and after my journey on the train?

Our concierge desk can arrange transfers to the departure or from the arrival station and the train manager can arrange transfers upon request on board. Reservation includes the round-trip transfer to and from the departure/arrival train station.

Where to stay before and after my journey on La Dolce Vita Orient Express train?

We are pleased to provide you with a bespoke stay at Orient Express La Minerva, in the heart of Rome overlooking the Pantheon.

At what time can I embark on the first day of my trip?

The morning departure time will be around 11 a.m. The afternoon departure time will be around 5 p.m. 

Schedule is subject to change, depending by the itinerary.

Check-in opens 3 hours before departure time.

LIFE ON BOARD
Are children permitted on board ?

Persons under the age of eighteen (18) may only travel under the responsibility of an accompanying adult in possession of a personal identification document as well as any document necessary for crossing borders.

If the accompanying person is an adult other than the minor’s legal representative, he/she shall have permission from the minor’s legal representatives, in compliance with any applicable law.

Minors under the age of sixteen (16) must be accompanied by an adult in its cabin.

Are pets permitted on board?

Unfortunately, due to limited space within the carriage and infrequent stops, no pets are permitted on board.

What do I wear on La Dolce Vita train?

 A smart daywear is appropriate during the day onboard. For daytime excursions, we recommend casual, comfortable clothing. 

How should I plan to pack?

We strongly recommend that you travel with 1 carry-on bag. Please keep in mind that your extra luggage registered at check-in will be stored at the station.

Each Cabin is equipped with a safe.

The storage spaces in the Deluxe Cabin is 1000x180x320mm* and 550 x 280 x 400mm.

The storage space in the Suite is 1250 x 380 x 320mm.

What are the toiletries available in my cabin?

In your cabin, you will find refined and beautiful bath linen, luxury beauty and hygiene products, a great hairstyling tool and comfortable slippers and bathrobes.

Can Orient Express La Dolce Vita accommodate special dietary preferences?

Of course, detailed requests will be needed at the time of booking to accommodate you during your journey. Without prior specific request, the Chef will do his best to find alternatives with the ingredients available aboard. Please note that no meals requiring strict religious observance will be prepared.

Can I confirm dining reservations in advance?

Dinner reservations will be done on board with the Maitre. Meals have multiple seating times.

Your preferences for seating times can be noted in advance as a request but not as confirmation. Reservations will only be confirmed once on board and you may be asked to share tables with fellow passengers. If you have any special request, please contact our concierge desk.

 

I am travelling alone will I feel integrated with the other guests ?

Wagon Bar and Dining Car are conviviality carriages that favour encounters. Seating arrangements with other guests open to encounters can be made. If you have any special request, please contact our concierge desk.

Is there WI-FI on the train?

WI-FI is available everywhere on the train. However, phones and electronic devices should only be used in the cabins and there are restrictions on video streaming using the WI-FI on board.

 

Is there air conditioning on board?

La Dolce Vita Orient Express is equipped with central air conditioning system and you will have individual control over the temperature. If needed, there are vents in the cabins to open or close.

Are there electrical outlets in cabin?

Yes, there are electrical outlets in all cabins (with 220V) and in common areas. The plug type is multi-standards, in any case adaptors can be provided (in limited number).

Are there laundry services on board?

Unfortunately, there are no laundry services or irons on board. 

Can I smoke on board La Dolce Vita Orient Express?

Italian regulations prevent guests from smoking on board. It applies to electronic cigarettes/vaping as well. Due to international regulations, it won’t be possible to smoke on a platform when the train is stopped. 

What is the legal drinking age on board the train?

The legal drinking age is 18, in accordance with Italian regulations

How are my on-board expenses handled?

All extras ordered on board are charged on the cabin. Payment are made at check-out, at the bar or at the restaurant.

What currency do I need on board La Dolce Vita Orient Express?

Prices are quoted in Euros and exchange rates will be displayed in the bar. It will be possible for you to pay in Euros cash or by credit card. Our mobile payments accept most credit cards. Please note that no personal check will be accepted.

Will I need to tip La Dolce Vita Orient Express staff?

Tips are at your discretion.

STOPOVERS & EXCURSIONS
What do I wear for excursions and off board activities?

For daytime excursions, we recommend that you wear casual, comfortable clothing, including appropriate footwear. Inspirations adapted to the weather will be provided before and during your journey.

What is the difficulty level of the optional excursions?

The excursion level is accessible to all. If you have any doubts about the feasibility of an excursion, please contact our concierge desk.

What happens if I don't opt for an optional offboard experience?

At each train stop, we will provide a transfer from the arrival station to the city centre. You can enjoy your free time and return to the train as scheduled in the travel program.

All passengers are asked to disembark the train during the stop.
